Renovated Beach House includes new restaurant on Hilton Head
The Beach House Resort on Hilton Head Island has finished an extensive renovation that includes a new beachfront restaurant.
As part of a $1.5 million undertaking, the resort upgraded its lobby, hallways, pool area and private beach access for guests, among other improvements.
The goal of the three-month project was to open up the south-end hotel to Coligny Beach, according to director of sales Mike DiLeone. Work included cutting back brush so guests would have easier access to the resort's most popular amenity, he said.
"We really wanted to open up our views and our backyard," DiLeone said.
To that end, the resort also built an indoor-outdoor restaurant, The Porch Southern Kitchen & Bar, that will serve "wholesome comfort food" and offer seating with beachfront views.
"It's not just a hotel restaurant," DiLeone said. "Think of us as the newest restaurant on the south end of the island."
Plans to spruce up the hotel, formerly the Holiday Inn Oceanfront, have been in the works since it was purchased from private owners by the Northview Hotel Group last year, he said. The year before the purchase, the hotel underwent a $5 million renovation.
On South Forest Beach Drive near Coligny Circle, The Beach House is a property of InterContinental Hotels Group, the world's largest hotel company, with brands such as Candlewood Suites and Holiday Inn.
