Local seafood expert Hudson to discuss industry's history

The Coastal Discovery Museum's next history forum will be "Hilton Head's Seafood Industry and Heritage" at 3 p.m. Nov. 6.

Tonya Hudson-DeSalve, a fourth-generation member of the Hudson family to work in the seafood industry on Hilton Head Island, will speak.

The Hudsons came to Hilton Head in the late 1890s to open oyster-shucking houses. Hudson-DeSalve is the owner of Benny Hudson Seafood Market on Squire Pope Road. She is the daughter of Benny and Barbara Hudson, the founders of Hudson's seafood restaurant.

For reservations to the forum, call 843-689-6767, Ext. 223. No charge for museum members; $10 per person for others.
