Overview

The 2025 Mercedes-Maybach GLS ultra-luxury full-size SUV is the flagship of the GLS lineup, turning the GLS into a decadent chauffeur-driven experience. It comes in a single GLS 600 trim with a mild-hybrid twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine developing 550 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque, linked to a 9-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive, and the powertrain is designed to be whisper-quiet. Yet, it still accelerates to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds.

The top-tier cabin comes with a 5-seater cabin, but two reclining captain's chairs with a center console can be ordered instead. Options include a champagne fridge and fold-out tables. The Maybach GLS is suited to high-net-worth individuals looking for the most opulent Mercedes SUV at half the price of a Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

What's New for 2025

The 2025 Maybach GLS 600 gets an extended 3-year SiriusXM subscription and a biometric fingerprint sensor. The Maybach Night Series Design package also debuts with its own unique interior and exterior design details, materials, wheel choices, and finishes, such as Manufaktur herringbone natural-grain wood and aluminum inlays. The Manufaktur menu is expanded as well, with the availability of the $25,600 Manufaktur Signature Interior package.

There are three new Manufaktur Nappa leather colors as well, namely Yacht Blue, Truffle Brown, and Carmine Red. Finally, four new Manufaktur Signature paint colors arrive: Mystic Blue Metallic, Ireland Mild Green Metallic, Silicon Grey, and Côte d'Azur Light Blue Metallic.

Exterior

The Maybach GLS's chromed waterfall grille with center Maybach emblem sets it apart from other GLSs, as does its standard multi-spoke 22-inch Maybach alloy wheels (several 23-inch designs are optional), the satin-aluminum lower-body and -bumper treatment, the distinctive chromed B-pillars, privacy glass, illuminated door sills, electrically extending running boards, animated Maybach logo projectors when you open the doors, and the Maybach badges on the rear pillars.

Two-tone paintwork is optional. The Night Series package brings two-tone Mojave Silver / Obsidian Black paintwork, blacks out all the exterior trim, wheels, and emblems, and adds rose-gold details to the (standard LED) headlights.

Interior

The Maybach GLS's cabin is even more dramatically different from those of other GLSs. The basic design is shared, but luxury is amped up to 11 with Nappa leather on the seats, ceiling, doors, and console, and natural-rain wood finishes. Even the luggage cover is wood-trimmed. Standard features include heated, ventilated, and massaging power front and rear seats with memory, a heated steering wheel and armrests, 4-zone climate control, a panorama roof, soft-closing doors, and more.

The familiar MBUX in-car tech comes with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with "Hey, Mercedes" assistant, navigation, seven USB ports, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, biometric authentication, a head-up display, SiriusXM, HD Radio, and a 29-speaker Burmester 3D surround-sound audio system. A rear-seat entertainment system costs extra, and so does, cheekily, in-car Wi-Fi.

With natural finishes, endless customization scope, road-scanning air suspension, superb sound insulation, and massaging seats all around, it's made for luxury, not sport, though the V8 provides effortlessly quiet propulsion and plenty of performance. At the price, the Maybach GLS is the bargain of the ultra-luxury SUVs, undercutting the Bentayga on price and coming in at less than half of a Cullinan's MSRP.
