Overview
The 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe is a high-performance luxury grand tourer available in five trims. The base RWD GT 43's 2.0-liter turbo-four puts out 416 horsepower, but all the others have a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 and AMG Performance 4Matic+ AWD: the GT 55 has 469 hp, the GT 63 has 577 hp, the track-focused GT 63 Pro has 603 hp, and the GT 63 S E Performance has a plug-in hybrid system with 805 hp. The car is meant for buyers who want a flagship AMG Mercedes sports car with striking design, grand-touring comfort, and high-tech engineering.
What's New for 2025
The 2025 AMG GT Coupe lineup expands with the addition of three new trims. The base GT 43 uses an AMG-built 2.0-liter turbo-four with 416 hp and F1-derived electric turbocharger technology, and comes only with rear-wheel drive. At the top of the range, the GT 63 S E Performance arrives with a plug-in hybrid variant of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 805 hp. The third trim is the track-focused GT 63 Pro, with its gas V8 producing 603 hp and features including 21-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and carbon-ceramic brakes.
The existing GT 55 and GT 63 trims continue as is, but the lineup gains access to more Manufaktur paint options. Some highly exclusive limited-run special editions include the GT 63 Pro Motorsport Collectors Edition and the GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport.
The 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe's price starts at $105,900 for the new GT 43 base model.
Exterior
The flat, menacing AMG GT Coupe shape commands attention with its aggressive maw, long hood, short deck, and muscular proportions. The GT 43 is the only trim with 19-inch wheels, and the GT 63 Pro has 21-inch wheels; the others run on 20s. The detailing gets progressively more aggressive, and the blacked-out GT 63 Pro carries a fixed rear wing. Other trims can be blacked out via the AMG Night package; there are AMG Extended Night, Extended Chrome, Aerodynamics, and Exterior Carbon Fiber packages too, with availability varying by trim.
Interior
The GT 43's baseline trim includes heated power front seats with memory, Nappa leather, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and 64-color ambient lighting, with a panorama roof optional and standard ventilated and massaging front seats on the top trims. The 2+2 cabin will accommodate small kids in the rear, with a height limit of 4'11" for any semblance of comfort. Trunk volume is 11.3 cu-ft, shrinking to 7.2 cu-ft in the PHEV.
There's a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and the MBUX infotainment system includes an 11.9-inch touchscreen, AMG Track Pace displays, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10-speaker Burmester audio system. Top trims get a head-up display and augmented-reality navigation.

Pros and Cons
Pros:
- From 416-805 hp across five models
- GT 43 reduces AMG GT ownership to $105,900
- GT 63 S E Perf. reaches 60 mph in 2.7 seconds with stunning V8 sound
- Sleek design with grand touring comfort
Cons:
- GT 43 4-cylinder lacks the emotional soundtrack
- Steering lacks tactile feedback compared to 911
- Firm ride can become tiresome on rough surfaces
- GT 55 at $137,550 a steep jump from GT 43 for V8 power
Verdict
The AMG GT Coupe offers a huge array of powertrain options in a single model range, from the RWD 416-hp GT 43 to the AWD 805-hp GT 63 S E Performance PHEV, plus a track-focused 603-hp GT 63 Pro, but it's the second-from-bottom $137K GT 55 that makes the most sense, with V8 power, all-weather 4Matic+ AWD, and a 3.8-second sprint to 60 mph. The GT 63 S E Performance hits hypercar territory with a 2.7-second sprint, but it has a tiny trunk and costs $200K. The AMG GT Coupe is more grand tourer than tactile sportster like the 911, but it strikes an admirable blend of luxury and sport.
