Long-standing Hardee’s in Port Royal closes permanently. What we know

A longtime fast-food fixture in Beaufort County has closed.

Hardee’s, located at 1450 Ribaut Road, right off Lady’s Island Drive, permanently closed on Dec. 1 at 6 p.m., ending its decades-long presence in the community.

Known for its breakfast biscuit sandwiches, chicken tenders and burgers, Hardee’s currently operates 114 other locations dotted across South Carolina.

For locals looking for the next nearest Hardee’s, the closest restaurants are now in Yemassee at the Love’s Travel Stop, Ravenel and across the state line in Garden City, Georgia.

The reason for the closure remains unclear.

Outreach to both Hardee’s corporate and the Town of Port Royal for information about the closure and potential next steps for the property was not returned before publication.

This story will be updated as more details become available.
