Hilton Head businesses to donate portion of sales to Midwestern tornado relief

Businesses at Coligny Plaza on Hilton Head Island are stepping up to help residents affected by the deadly and destructive outbreak of tornadoes across Nebraska and Iowa in April.

All day on Wednesday, May 8, businesses will be donating 10% or more of their sales to Operation BBQ Relief, a nonprofit organization that provides meals to communities in the wake of natural disasters.

The event includes some of Coligny’s most popular restaurants, such as Earle of Sandwich, Sandbar Beach Eats, Carolina Coffee and Crumb, Fish Coastal Casual Seafood, Skillets Cafe and Grille, The Ice Cream Cone, Big Bamboo, Frosty Frog, Forrest Fire, Cafe Al Dente, Bad Biscuit and Sweet Al’s.

Operation BBQ Relief is known for its rapid response in providing meals in the wake of natural disasters. Founded in 2011 following a devastating tornado in Joplin, Missouri, OBR has served millions of meals with the help of volunteers and donations from across the country.

The collaboration with Coligny is part of a longstanding relationship that previously saw over 25,000 meals distributed to the Hilton Head community during the early months of the COVID pandemic-related business closings.
