Beaufort County’s first Kia dealership is coming to Okatie. Here’s when it may open
Residents in the southern Lowcountry will soon have better access to Kia cars and repairs.
A new Kia dealership, which will be Beaufort County’s first, is opening in Okatie at 3 Cecil Reynolds Drive across the street from Taylor’s Landscape Supply & Nursery, near the intersection of highways 170 and 278. Currently the closest dealership is Kia Country of Savannah, in Savannah, Georgia.
Despite its Okatie location, the dealership will be known as KIA of Hilton Head. This is a common occurrence with many dealerships along 278 adopting the Hilton Head name, despite not being within the town’s limits or on the island.
Construction at the four-acre site is well underway with the dealership’s central building visible to those passing by on Highway 170.
The dealership is planned to open in mid April, according to a representative of Kia Country of Savannah. An exact opening date could not be immediately determined.
A Kia manufacturing plant is located nearby in West Point, Georgia.
Kia offers sedans, SUVs and hybrids ranging from $20,000 for the Kia Soul to $50,000 for its top of the line hybrid. The South Korean car manufacturer has become more popular in the United States in recent years as American manufacturers like Ford and GM have shifted away from making sedans to contrate on trucks and SUVs.
