Lottery player takes home $200K in winnings after buying ticket at Bluffton gas station
A Bluffton lottery ticket winner doubled their Palmetto Cash 5 winnings by spending an extra $1 Monday night, according to a press release from the South Carolina Education Lottery.
The winning ticket, purchased at a Blue Water gas station and convenience store on Discovery Drive was originally for $100,000. That prize was doubled when the winner, who has not been named, chose to “power up,” according to the lottery office.
At least 3,600 other players decided to double their winnings for an extra $1 in Monday night’s drawing and more than 5,000 others took home lottery winnings ranging from $1 to $200,000, lottery officials said in a press release.
To win, players must choose five numbers from one to 38 or use a quick pick to have numbers randomly selected for them.
The odds of winning $200,000 are one in 878,399.
The next Palmetto Cash 5 drawing is Tuesday, Feb. 22. As of Tuesday morning, the top prize was listed at $100,000.
