Budget airline plans direct flight from Savannah to New England. You might get a $49 ticket

Avelo Airlines announced Wednesday it will add a nonstop flight from the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport to Connecticut starting in early May.

Avelo, which rhymes with hello according to a spokesperson, will operate the route four days a week, on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

The airline is offering introductory fares starting at $49 from the Savannah airport to Tweed-New Haven Airport for those who book before March 2 at aveloair.com.

“This will be the first time we have had direct service to the state of Connecticut,” said Gregory B. Kelly, executive director of the Savannah Airport Commission, in a news release.

Avelo also is adding flights between its East Coast base in Connecticut and Charleston and Myrtle Beach, S.C., in May.
