Enjoy vodka, moonshine, and bourbon? Now you can sip them at Beaufort’s new distillery

After months of waiting, you can now sip and enjoy vodka, moonshine, and bourbon at Beaufort’s new distillery.

RLB Distillery hosted its grand opening Wednesday, showcasing how it transformed part of the former K-Mart building in Beaufort Town Center into a family-owned craft distillery.

Tasting tours ($10) are offered on the hour for those of age and include a souvenir shot glass.

Three spirits — King Tide Vodka, Saint Helena ‘Shine Moonshine, and Coosa Cut Bourbon — are currently available for trying and buying.

There are also T-shirts, stickers, glasses, and of course, hand sanitizer for sale.

Owners and Lady’s Island residents Brigid Fackrell and her husband, Brian, spent the past four years developing the plan for the business, Brigid previously said. Inspiration for the idea came to Brian from the television show “Moonshiners.”

Trips to other distilleries and courses at Moonshine University in Kentucky helped cultivate RLB Distillery on Boundary Street.

The initials that make up the business’ name are distilled version of the actual name that will appear on some merchandise: Rotten Little Bastard — a nod to a nickname Brian’s mother bestowed upon him at a young age, The Island Packet previously reported.

The distillery is one of many retail locations opening in the once-vacant former grocery store, including local coffee shop Urban Brew + Co., running specialty store Grounded Running, Wild Birds Unlimited and a new location for Barbers of the Lowcountry.
