Hilton Head-based Community Foundation of the Lowcountry names new CEO

Community Foundation of the Lowcountry has hired a new president and CEO.

Scott Wierman, currently president of The Winston-Salem Foundation in North Carolina, will start the job Jan. 1.

He will replace interim leader Jackie Rosswurm, who has filled the role since April after the departure of Christopher Kerrigan. Rosswurm plans to return to her position on the board of directors.

The Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, based on Hilton Head since 1994, assists donors to more than 350 charitable funds in Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper counties, according to a news release. Its combined assets total $64 million, and grantmaking and scholarships reach $82 million.

Wierman has been at The Winston-Salem Foundation since 1988 and has served as its president since 1997.
