Kroger adjusting hours at Beaufort County stores starting this weekend

Kroger stores in South Carolina will extend their hours and do away with dedicated shopping times for senior citizens this weekend, according to a news release from the company.

Hours at the grocery stores and fuel centers had been cut back in mid-March as the state’s residents began social distancing over the coronavirus pandemic.

Starting Sunday, Kroger stores in Beaufort County will open at 6 a.m. and close at midnight.

Those locations are:

  • 42 Shelter Cove Lane (Shelter Cove Towne Centre) on Hilton Head
  • 125 Towne Drive (Belfair Village) in Bluffton
  • 27 Discovery Drive (Buckwalter Place) in Bluffton

Hours for Kroger’s pharmacies will not change, the news release said.

While cutting back on hours helped store employees have more time to clean and restock, the extended hours are expected to spread out customers who are trying to maintain social distancing, said Felix Turner, manager of corporate affairs for Kroger’s Atlanta Division.

Last week, Publix, which has five locations in Beaufort County and another just across the county line in Hardeeville, returned to its normal shopping hours.

Harris Teeter resumed its normal shopping hours on May 13.
