On the job hunt? This ‘fastest-growing’ company is opening an operations center in Hardeeville
If you’re looking for a job and have some experience in information technology, then you may be in luck.
Parker’s announced Tuesday that it plans to invest $1 million in a new Hardeeville facility that will house the IT operations for its convenience stores. It will also be use for fuel and facilities maintenance and warehousing.
The new 20,000-square-foot facility at the Hardeeville Commerce Park is expected to employ about 14-16 employees, according to a news release from the South Carolina Regional Development Alliance.
“As we continue to develop Parker’s into the Charleston market, we positioned our support departments into what we see as our future regional center,” Greg Parker, president and CEO, said in a news release. “The new warehouse will be a 20-minute drive from our downtown Savannah headquarters. Because of its location on Interstate 95, it is perfectly located to service our, soon to be, 54 stores.”
Parker’s Convenience Stores owns and operates 51 stores in Georgia and South Carolina and expects to build 30 new stores in South Carolina in the next three years, the news release said.
Hardeeville Mayor Harry Williams said in a statement that the company will be the “cornerstone” of the city’s 166-acre commerce park, which will serve as a “model for a beautifully planned commercial zone that the entire community will be proud of.”
This is not the first company to decide to bring more jobs to the Lowcountry in recent weeks.
Last month, Waste Management announced plans to build a new $23 million terminal at the RiverPort Business Park in Hardeeville, which is expected to create 53 open positions.
The Parker Companies, LLC has been included on the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America for the past three years. For more information on The Parker Companies and Parker’s Convenience Stores, visit their website: www.parkersav.com.
