Hallmark stores on Hilton Head Island and in Bluffton appear to be closing, though a timeline was not available on Monday.

Signs were posted in the windows of the businesses advertising a “store closing sale” on Monday. Everything in the stores is marked down 75 to 90 percent, the signs said.

The Beaufort County stores are located in Shoppes at Indigo Run on Hilton Head Island and Belfair Towne Village in Bluffton.

The Facebook page for the businesses lists 12 stores under the Christie’s and Jaclyn’s Hallmark ownership. In addition to the two Beaufort County stores, the franchise owners also own stores in Roanoke, Va., and in Winston-Salem, Mooresville, Statesville, Clemmons and Greensboro, N.C.

The next closest Hallmark store to Beaufort County is in Savannah’s Oglethorpe Mall, according to Hallmark’s website.

Employees who answered the phones at both locations in Beaufort County on Monday morning would not comment about the closing or say what date the stores will close.

A message left for a spokesman at the corporate office was not returned.
