Traveling to or from Miami and Chicago is about to get little more accessible for Beaufort Country residents and visitors in 2018.

American Airlines announced Monday that it will offer new flight options to Miami International Airport and Chicago’s O’Hare Airport starting this summer.

The airline is adding a year-round, daily nonstop flight to Miami International Airport starting June 7, 2018, and a seasonal, daily nonstop flight to Chicago O’Hare Airport June 7 until September 4, 2018.

“Additional service to Chicago and the return of direct service to south Florida has been on our top five air service priority list for some time now, and we have been working very hard on that list,” Greg Kelly, executive director of Savannah/Hilton Head International said in a press release. “We are very pleased that American Airlines has decided to add both Chicago and Miami service to our market. Direct access to both of these American hubs will be a great benefit to our region.”
