16,000-square-foot laundry facility and warehouse proposed on Hilton Head — but you can’t do this
A 16,000-square-foot laundry facility and warehouse is proposed for Dillon Road on Hilton Head’s north end, but it won’t be open to the public.
Dean Pierce, CEO of Elite Resort Group, the owner of the site at 161 Dillon Road, said Tuesday the proposed warehouse would be used by the company only, while the planned laundry facility would be leased to a third-party laundry and cleaning company and also would not be open to the public. He said he didn’t know which company would lease the laundry facility, adding his firm is in negotiations with several companies.
Elite Resort Group is a Hilton Head-based timeshare property-management company offering Gold Crown resorts, including the Coral Reef resort in Shipyard Plantation and Island Links in Port Royal Plantation, according to its website.
At a town pre-application meeting Monday, Andy Bajoczky of Cranston Engineering said there is no scheduled groundbreaking or completion date for the project. Pre-application meetings are preliminary development meetings that allow town staff to give feedback on projects before applicants officially apply with the town.
At Monday’s meeting, town staff said, among other things, that the maximum square footage permitted would be 15,800 square feet rather than the proposed 16,000; the project would require approval from the town’s Design Review Board; and to gain that approval, the loading dock would need to be moved to the opposite site of the building so it is not facing Dillon Road.
