Atlanta Bread Company on Hilton Head Island has closed its doors indefinitely as it seeks a new owner, a news release from the company said Tuesday afternoon.

While signs on the door the same day said the business was closed for maintenance, the news release states the owner of the franchise recently relocated out of state and is unable to continue operating the “successful” cafe.

“The franchise is seeking an interested, local entrepreneur to serve as a franchise operator in order to continue serving the Hilton Head market,” the release says.

Despite locked doors and a dark interior Tuesday morning at Atlanta Bread Company, an outdoor seating area in front of the business was filled with people meeting friends or business associates.

The restaurant is located at 45 Pembroke Drive in Festival Center.

An answering machine at the cafe also said it was closed for maintenance Tuesday.

On Monday, the business’ local owner, Lynn Cortes, posted on Facebook that the restaurant was closed for maintenance as well.

Gift cards and loyalty points can be used at other Atlanta Bread locations, the company release said. It states anyone with a catering order in place for the Hilton Head location will have a representative contact them to issue a refund.

Anyone with questions, concerns or an interest in franchise ownership may contact the corporate office at www.atlantabread.com/contact.
