New rum distillery on Hilton Head means it’s time to celebrate, of course

The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting for Hilton Head Distillery, a craft spirits producer, at 5 p.m. Sept. 15 at 15 Cardinal Road.

Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served after a brief ceremony. Guests are invited to stay for a tour of the facility.

The company received its Distilled Spirits Permit in late July, allowing the facility to begin producing spirits. Once it is operating on a full schedule, Hilton Head Distillery will produce variations of rum, including the flagship, Two Traditions Dark 23 Rum, as well as Aermoor Vodka.

The distillery will hand-craft spirits using a proprietary blend of Caribbean rum and Carolina whiskey-distilling techniques. The distillery’s first batch of spirits will be branded with the term “Maiden Voyage.” This limited edition is available for pre-sale.

The distillery will also host a grand-opening celebration beginning Sept. 23 and ending on the evening of Sept. 24. Tours, samples and entertainment will be available.
