Greenwood man arrested for attempted murder in Aiken, according to police reports
AIKEN - The Aiken Department of Public Safety arrested a Greenwood man for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime that occurred in Aiken on June 5.
Aiden Nguyen, 18, was arrested.
On June 5 law enforcement officers responded to Cherokee Street in Aiken after one victim shared with police that he had been shot at by a man wearing a black face mask and carrying an assault rifle.
While en route to the scene, additional shots fired were reported and other calls were made giving a similar description of the shooter.
The victim stated that he was approached by the shooter who allegedly made threats to shoot unless the victim left the scene.
The victim said he left Cherokee Street and while driving was shot at five to six times.
Police were informed that Nguyen was the offender via an anonymous tip.
Officers located a vehicle that matched Nguyen's description parked behind an abandoned residence on Cherokee Street.
Law enforcement negotiated with Nguyen to exit the abandoned residence and arrested him when he exited.
According to police reports, Nguyen's vehicle was examined and inside was found a Glock 17 9mm pistol, a rifle, several boxes of ammunition and a bullet catcher. These items were placed into evidence.
Nguyen is not currently listed as an Aiken County inmate.
