Christ Lutheran to install new pastor

The Rev. Dr. Emil Klatt III will be installed as pastor of Christ Lutheran Church on Hilton Head Island in a special service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, with Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Bishop Herman R. Yoos officiating.

Klatt grew up in Beaufort and has many family members there. He is a Clemson graduate who spent 20 years as a pilot with the Marine Corps. He attended Culver Academies in Indiana, where he met his wife, Barbara, who is also the parish administrator at Christ Lutheran. He has served several pastorates and has taught at both Culver Academies and the U.S. Naval Academy.

He comes from St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lancaster, Ohio, and is only the fifth pastor to serve Christ Lutheran in its 42-year-history. The church is located at 829 William Hilton Parkway. For more information, call 843-785-5560.
