Beloved Hilton Head breakfast spot abruptly announces closing with sign on the door

After two decades of serving up blueberry lemon curd pancakes and chicken and waffles on Hilton Head Island, Stack’s Pancakes & More, right off of William Hilton Parkway next to Bullies BBQ, has shut down operations. The announcement, typed out on printer paper, was taped to the inside of the restaurant’s bright blue doors: “Spaghetti dinner has been canceled. Stack’s has closed permanently.”

As of Tuesday morning, the restaurant had not made any formal announcements about the closure on their social media accounts.

The breakfast, lunch and home cooking joint first opened on the island in the spring of 2004. On social media, fans of the restaurant shared memories made from the diner. They will miss bike rides to Stack’s for their strawberry waffles or trying their best to duplicate their pancake recipe at home. They also asked questions about why the restaurant closed without warning to customers.

The Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette were not able to get in contact with restaurant owners about the reasons for closure or the future plans for the location.
