Quest to name best coffee shops in Beaufort County down to 4. Vote for your favorite
Beaufort County has plenty of coffee shops, but we have learned this about its caffeine connoisseurs: They’ll pick local over a chain given the opportunity.
A round of 200 nominations from The Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette readers plus nearly 2,000 votes cast in Round 1 brings us here to Round 2 of our poll to name the best coffee shops in Beaufort County.
All of the businesses advancing to Round 2 are local establishments, even though there are additional chain coffee shops being built. Coffee enough for everyone, we say!
Another surprise: Some of the shops that received the most nominations have now fallen off the list in voting.
Round 1 results
In our quest to pick the county’s favorite, we started by asking readers to nominate business across three locations: Hilton Head Island, the Bluffton area and the Beaufort/Port Royal area.
They responded with names of places almost anyone would recognize and a few hidden gems as well, and the top eight in each location made the Round 1 ballot.
Now, it’s time to narrow the field from eight in each area to four in each area.
Once that’s done, the final two will go head-to-head to determine each area’s winner.
In a bonus round, the three area winners will compete for the overall title of Best Coffee Shop in Beaufort County.
In alphabetical order, here are the top four that will advance in each area:
HILTON HEAD
- Carolina Coffee and Crumbs
- Corner Perk Brunch Cafe
- Gr8 Bites
- Hilton Head Island Coffee Roasters
BLUFFTON AREA
- Corner Perk Brunch Cafe
- Odd Birds Cafe and Market
- The Cottage Cafe
- The Grind Roasters
BEAUFORT/PORT ROYAL AREA
- Lowcountry Cider Co. and Superior Coffee
- Maynard’s Ice Cream and Cafe
- Sunny Summers Cafe
- Urban Brew and Co.
The fine print
Please note the only prize is bragging rights. It’s also worth noting that, because we aren’t limiting the number of times anyone can vote, this poll should not be considered scientific. It’s just for fun!
