Looking for hot cocoa bombs? Five Beaufort, Jasper Co. bakeries selling the treat

A scrumptious new food trend has taken over the Internet: hot cocoa bombs.

The spherical treats, first spotted on TikTok, have become a cottage industry around the country, with legions of bakers and chocolatiers whipping up the cocoa mix-filled, besprinkled chocolate shells in their own homes. Brick-and-mortar chocolate shops, bakeries and cafes have joined in the trend, too, offering the confections as a holiday treat. All you need is warm milk to drop the treat in and a spoon to stir it up, and you’ve got yourself a holiday drink.

Here are five cafes and bakeries that make the cocoa bombs in-house.

The Cottage Cafe, Bakery and Tea Room — 38 Calhoun St., Bluffton

Owner Leslie Rohland said the Cottage is joining the hype by offering hot cocoa bombs in traditional, peppermint, dulce de leche and mocha flavors for $6 each. Call (843) 757-0508.

The Purple Cow — 24G Palmetto Bay Rd., Hilton Head Island

Purple Cow boasts 22 flavors of cocoa bombs, ranging from Heath bar, to white chocolate peppermint, to chocolate-peanut butter swirl. Each costs $6. Owner Lisa Bernstein said customers can order ahead by emailing donot4get@mac.com.
