‘We need beer now more than ever’: New brewery opens next week in Bluffton

A new brewery in Bluffton?

Pinch us, we’re dreaming.

Lot 9 brewing co. is opening Thursday. The local brewery advertises small-batch brewing and a rotating food truck schedule.

Lot 9 will be located at 258 Red Cedar Street in Unit 14 off Bluffton Parkway.

The brewery will open with a socially-distant celebration from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, “because we need beer now more than ever,” according to the brewery’s Instagram page.

Dana Briggs and Walter Trifari, lot 9’s owners, said they’re excited to bring a “test kitchen” for craft beer to the Lowcountry.

“We’re going to be brewing in small batches, so the flavors and styles of beer are always changing and rotating,” Trifari said in a news release. “You can always count on our beer being the freshest beer around.”

Trifari has 23 years of brewing experience.

“Our hope for this brewery is to provide a space for people to come together, get away from life’s worries, and drink good beer,” co-owner Briggs added in the news release.

Briggs and Trifari met when Hurricane Matthew hit in 2016, according to the brewery’s website.

“The two of them met and got on like a house on fire. Walter needed hurricane shutters and Dana needed a beer. Can’t blame him,” the site says.

The pair “became fast friends and bonded over many yin and yangs. But one in particular: beer brings people together.”

“Doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from. If you love beer, you’re in. That’s what we’re about. Bringing people together for the love of great beer made right,” according to the website.
