You will need a fork to eat this Bluffton doughnut

For the next couple of weeks, you can get a fresh fried doughnut filled with cheesecake and topped with local blueberries at FARM in Bluffton.

FARM executive chef Brandon Carter said the idea for the sweet treat came about during a brain-storming session with Ashley Cope, pastry chef for the restaurant.

“We can fry them to order,” Carter said. “A hot doughnut sort of brings me back to childhood. Getting those doughnuts when they are hot and ready out of the fryer brings a smile to my face.”

The menu at FARM, located at 1301 May River Road, changes based on seasonal produce. Carter said it is uncertain how long the $9 doughnut will be on the menu but it likely will be served up for a couple more weeks at least.

“We have a rule that nothing is sacred, and everything runs its course,” Carter said about the menu. “Once blueberries are no longer available we might do the same dessert with a different topping.”

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays. It is closed Mondays and Sundays.
