This Chihuahua Had Exactly One Baby, and the Universe Made It Very Clear She Was Not Going Anywhere

I have a weakness for animals being ridiculously good parents. Show me a mama dog doting on her puppy, a cat carrying her kittens around like precious little potatoes or a bird feeding its babies, and suddenly I'm canceling all my plans because I need to stare at them for the next hour.

So naturally, this tiny Chihuahua family completely wrecked me. These sweet little dogs only had one puppy, and somewhere along the way it became very obvious that absolutely nobody in this family had any intention of letting that baby leave. Frankly, I support the decision.

The adorable video was shared by @dollychi with the caption:

"Your dogs got married and you let them keep their only baby."

The clip follows an adorable brown Chihuahua and a white Chihuahua as they raise their one and only puppy together.

As the little one grows, both parents are constantly cuddling, sleeping beside and playing with their baby.

The puppy returns the favor by enthusiastically chewing on both of their faces.

Apparently that's just how tiny dogs say, "I love you."

Watching the three of them pile together for naps is enough to make anyone's heart explode.

The Comments Section Was Equally Smitten:

  • "When a marshmallow meets a crispy marshmallow and they make a perfectly toasted marshmallow..."
  • "I love it when animals get to keep their babies. They have feelings too."
  • "And the puppy is the perfect mix of both too."
  • "They're the cutest lil Chihuahua family."
  • "Stop, they are the most adorable little family ever."
  • "What a beautiful life you've gifted them."
  • "I can't handle all this cuteness."

Personally, the toasted marshmallow comment deserves some kind of literary award.

Because that puppy really does look like the perfect combination of both parents.

It's like someone copied and pasted their cutest features into one tiny potato with legs.

How Many Puppies Do Mama Dogs Usually Have?

The number of puppies in a litter depends on a dog's breed, age, and overall health. Chihuahuas often have relatively small litters, commonly ranging from one to three puppies, though larger litters can happen.

Having just one puppy, sometimes called a singleton puppy, is less common but perfectly possible.

For families who aren't planning to breed their dogs, veterinarians generally recommend spaying and neutering. These procedures help prevent unplanned litters and can reduce the risk of certain health and behavioral problems. If you're considering breeding, it's important to work closely with your veterinarian to help keep both the mama dog and her puppies healthy.

As for this little family ...

I vote they all keep snuggling together forever.
