When the Cult Sci-Fi Series ‘Sliders' Starts Streaming Free
After Sliders premiered on March 22, 1995, the science fiction series would continue airing until its fifth season ended on February 4, 2000. More than 26 years later, all 88 episodes of the series will soon be available to stream on Tubi, as a ComicBook.com article recently reported. Thanks to its impending arrival on the service, people will be able to enjoy the series at no cost and without even needing to sign up for an account. Instead of charging for access, Tubi is an ad-supported service that allows users to watch a long list of shows and movies for free.
What Made Sliders a Beloved 'Sci-Fi Cult Classic'
A sci-fi series, Sliders focused on a physics student who accidentally invents a portal that allows him to travel between parallel universes. That results in him and a group of companions jumping between dimensions as they try to navigate their way back home. The fascinating premise allowed episodes to feature the show's popular characters being thrust into scenarios each week that kept them and viewers guessing.
Sliders starred several famous actors, including Jerry O'Connell, Cleavant Derricks, Sabrina Lloyd, John Rhys-Davies, Kari Wuhrer, and Charlie O'Connell. The show also included several memorable guest stars, including Robert Englund, Tommy Chong, Corey Feldman, Roger Daltrey, and a pre-fame Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Thanks to its cast and concept, Sliders developed a devoted fan following. Even after Fox canceled the series following its third season, fans remained invested when it moved to Sci-Fi Channel (now known as Syfy) for its final two seasons.
In March 2025, Nerdtropolis celebrated the 30th anniversary of the series' premiere and labeled Sliders a "Sci-Fi Cult Classic." Similarly, in May 2025, MovieWeb included the show on its list of the "10 Cult Classic TV Shows That Don't Get Enough Attention." That outlet noted its "impeccable sci-fi storytelling" during its first two seasons and argued that "many consider it among, if not the best, sci-fi series of the '90s." Those are only two of many examples of how the show's status as a beloved series has been celebrated since it ended.
