Kimberlyn Ballard and Jeffrey Thames of Beaufort announce the birth of a son, Shawn Mikell Thames, at 2:05 a.m. May 4 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

The newborn weighed 7 pounds, 4.2 ounces and measured 21 inches.

He has a brother, Jeffrey Thames Jr., 5, and a sister, Elizabeth Thames, 2.

Maternal grandparents are Robyn Sanders and Chip Sanders.

Paternal grandparents are Jeanne Powell and Brian Powell Sr.
