Michelle and Ed Simmons of St. Helena Island announce the birth of a son, James E. Simmons II, at 9:08 a.m. Jan. 23 at Coastal Carolina Hospital.

The newborn weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces, and measured 20 inches.
