From the editor: Welcome to our new website

Welcome to the new site of The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette. We have a new look, organization and features to make your news reading easier no matter what device you are using.

We think you'll like the new design and navigation that helps direct you to the top stories of the day.

Some of the highlights of our new design include:

• It's responsive. That means it will automatically re-size to fit your screen, whether you're reading on a desktop, tablet or smartphone.

• The site loads faster.

• The typeface is larger for better readability.

• Homepage content is presented in a more readable, compact format. Improved navigation across the top of the pages makes it easier to find stories or your favorite columnists.

• Sign-in information hasn't changed, so your user name and password remain the same.

One tip: The site will look best if you have upgraded your web browser: Firefox 21 and above, Chrome 27 and above, Internet Explorer 8 and above and Safari 6.05 and above.
