Bistro Mezzaluna takes dining experience to the next level

With new chef Khaldoun Rabadi, delicious specials and great entertainment, Bistro Mezzaluna is taking the restaurant up a notch, adding contemporary flavors and presentation to complement its authentic Italian cuisine.

Chef Khal uses his training in a wide range of culinary styles and techniques from French to fusion to (obviously) Italian to create innovative dishes using quality ingredients. His food tastes complex, but his secret is easy: "Keep the flavor profiles simple and pristine."

The "mile-high" lasagna is an enormous portion of homemade pasta, sauce, meat and cheese that is melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Or try fresh diver scallops over cheese ravioli with a Mediterranean style sauce. Also, the herb-crusted rack of lamb with truffed goat cheese polenta in a rosemary demi glaze is a must-have. The chef also has an Italian take on a longtime Southern favorite: the crabcake. An award-winner at the "Taste of the Season" festival, his crab cake is served with a caper-and- artichoke aioli. The menu still specializes in classic Italian chicken, veal and pasta dishes. The homemade soups and decadent desserts round out a fabulous meal.

Bistro Mezzaluna's new "Chef's Table" offering is an excellent way to sample Chef Khal's skills. The five-course meal, by reservation only, can accommodate between 2 and 12 people and is customized to the palate of the party.

Bistro Mezzaluna's owners Mark and Valerie are proud that their restaurant is one of the few spots on the island to over fabulous food and live mu- sic. With a baby grand piano, a dance floor and a Tuscan-inspired décor, Bistro Mezzaluna provides a unique atmosphere. Where else can you dine, dance and meet friends old and new?
