Live music & more: Things to do in Hilton Head for Labor Day weekend 2025

The end of summer is just around the corner, and Labor Day weekenders are already trickling into Hilton Head bars and restaurants.

But there’s more to Hilton Head than beaches, boats, and booze. Here’s a selection of family-friendly events, live music, and attractions to check out before you leave.

Live Music and Entertainment

Don’t miss your chance to catch these local entertainers before they say goodbye to the summer season:

  • Shannon Tanner & The Oyster Reefers @ Shelter Cove, Saturday & Sunday at 7 p.m.. Address: 13 Harbourside Lane. Free admission.
  • Gregg Russell @ Harbour Town, Thursday, Friday & Saturday at 8 p.m.. Address: 149 Lighthouse Rd. Free admission.
  • Cappy the Clown @ Shelter Cove, Saturday and Sunday 6 – 9 p.m. Face painting, balloon animals and more.

Many bars and restaurants also feature live music. Here are a few:

  • Big Bamboo Cafe, near Coligny Beach, 1 N Forest Beach Dr, 12:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m.
  • Quarterdeck, near Harbour Town Lighthouse, 160 Lighthouse Rd, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
  • The Boardroom, near Reilley’s in Bar-Muda Triangle, 10-1 p.m.
  • Kind of Blue, jazz soul and funk most evenings in this spot near Coligny, 19 Dunnagans Alley
  • Bistro 17, upscale French restaurant with live piano entertainment every Friday and Saturday night, 17 Harbourside Ln D

Got a little extra cash to spare? Looking for a special and unique gift for someone back home? Check out these local art galleries for wall art, pottery, jewelry and more.

  • Endangered Arts @ South Island Square Shopping Center. Longstanding fine art gallery selling wall art and sculptures that feature sea turtles, shorebirds, and other Hilton Head wildlife. Hours: Friday & Saturday 11 – 6. Closed Sunday and Monday.
  • Nash Gallery @ Shelter Cove. Locally-owned boutique shop selling art exclusively from North American artists. “Something for everyone” with items ranging from $15 to upwards of $3,000. Hours: Friday 10 – 8, Saturday 10 – 5, Sunday 11 – 5.
  • Art League of Hilton Head @ Shelter Cove. Gallery inside Arts Center of Coastal Carolina Now featuring “Icons and Tidal Pools” by artist Valerie Kramer. Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Local History & Nature Tours

Dive into the rich history of the Lowcountry with these local museums and tours:

  • Coastal Discovery Museum, 70 Honey Horn Dr. Hours: 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday & Monday, 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Sunday. 300-year-old plantation featuring a camellia garden and butterfly exhibit.
  • Gullah Heritage Trail Tours, daily at 10:00. Two-hour narrated bus tour showcasing Hilton Head’s Gullah-Geechee history. Adults $49 Children $25.
  • Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park, historic site of town for freed slaves during the Civil War. Self-guided tours with signage available. Current home of traveling statue of Harriet Tubman, who lived in Beaufort County during the war. Free.
