Alec, we hardly knew thee.

Alec Thompson, the 29-year-old civil engineer who lives in North Charleston, did not survive his second week on ABC’s reality dating show “The Bachelorette.”

Thompson, who is actually from Forest, Virginia, had exactly one line of dialogue during the entire season.

“You seem like an amazing girl and the total package. And I just can’t wait to learn more about you and get this thing on track,” Thompson said to Young when he walked out of the limo during his first week on the show.

The star of the show is Michelle Young, a 29-year-old, 5th grade teacher who previously appeared on North Carolina-native Matt James’ season of “The Bachelor,” which aired earlier this year.

We will miss seeing Thompson on the show — the little that we did see, usually in cuts focused on, hmmmm, anyone else.

His early departure means that South Carolina will not make any cameos during this season of “The Bachelorette.”

Let us hope for another contestant from the Palmetto State on a future season.
