This Hilton Head theater is the coolest in South Carolina, says Cosmo magazine

The coolest movie theater in the state of South Carolina?

That would be Park Plaza Cinema on Hilton Head Island, according to Cosmopolitan magazine.

The theater, near Greenwood Drive before the Sea Pines gate on the island, was among 50 cinemas listed in “The Coolest Movie Theater in Every State,” published by the magazine a couple weeks ago. Park Plaza Cinema got high marks for its luxury recliners and fully stocked cafe.

Oh, and the dogs.

“I was amazed they mentioned the dogs,” owner Lucie Mann said Friday afternoon, referring to Annabelle and Antoinette, who Mann says draw repeat customers and returning vacationers who just want to say “Hi.”

“It’s a nice surprise, it really is,” she said. “It complements all the work we’ve been doing. ... It’s a place you can go and feel like family.”

In addition to the new recliners, the bathrooms have been refurbished, and moviegoers can have wine, beer and food with their flicks.

The theater, now seven years old, is located at 33 Office Park Rd, Suite 201.
