Learn more about how to keep local island habitats healthy and thriving
Kate Schaefer, south coastal office director of the Coastal Conservation League, will present “Barrier Island Ecology” at 3 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Coastal Discovery Museum on Hilton Head Island.
The ecology of barrier islands is paramount to consider when making development and shoreline management decisions, according to a press release from the museum. This talk will feature conversation about the special places on local barrier islands and what residents can learn about the growth patterns to minimize impact on habitat, water quality and beachfront and maximize the health of natural resources.
Cost for the program is $7 per person. Reservations are required.
The museum is at 70 Honey Horn Drive on Hilton Head.
