Tour historic Fort Mitchel on Hilton Head Island

The Heritage Library will offer a tour of Fort Mitchel in Hilton Head Plantation on Hilton Head Island at 10 a.m. June 11.

Fort Mitchel is a Civil War earthworks battery built on Skull Creek to protect the Seabrook Coaling Station and the ships in Port Royal Sound. This site is owned and maintained by the Heritage Library.

Tours are $12 for adults; $7 for children ages 7-12. Children younger than 7 are not allowed. Beaufort Humanities Festival attendees free.

The Heritage Library is a nonprofit history and ancestry research center open to the public at 852 William Hilton Parkway.
