Saturday races could affect Hilton Head traffic

Drivers take note. Traffic could be affected by the Hilton Head Island Marathon on Saturday.

The marathon, half marathon and 5K will start at 8 a.m. at Jarvis Creek Park, at 100 Jarvis Park Road, Hilton Head, according to a news release.

Traffic to Jarvis Creek Park off U.S. Highway 278, Nature’s Way, Pembroke Road, the Cross Island Parkway, Arrow Road, Marshland Road, Spanish Wells Road and Point Comfort could be affected between 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

The Cross Island Parkway and all toll booths will remain open throughout the races. However, only one lane of the west bound Cross Island Parkway will be open from 7 a.m.-2 p.m.

More than 1,200 runners and walkers are expected to participate in the race.
