Fundraiser set for Alex Arrieta, 10, who is fighting cancer

The popular "Despicable Me" movie will be shown for free Saturday to help raise money for Alex Arrieta, a 10-year-old Hilton Head Island boy who has cancer.

Park Plaza Cinema on Hilton Head will show the animated film at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Admission is free but donations are being accepted at the door to help Alex's family while he undergoes treatment for acute myeloid leukemia at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Alex's father, Brandon Arrieta, also reports that Alex is nearing his goal of collecting 1,000 stuffed toy lambs to distribute to children with cancer. For more on that project, go to www.lambsforlife.org.
