A Taste of Beaufort: Find out what’s on the menu for the upcoming annual festival
If you can smell fried chicken and seafood at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, don’t worry, you’re not dreaming.
It’s just time to get a Taste of Beaufort at the city’s annual two-day food festival.
The party starts Friday, May 5 at 5 p.m. and lasts until 10 p.m. featuring dishes from an array of Beaufort restaurants, according to a news release from the city. Admission to the festival is free, though food tickets will be available for $1 and must be purchased at the festival.
Live music Friday will be performed by Deas-Guys, a Hilton Head band found most Sundays at the Jazz Corner on the island. For the kids, there will be mini-golf provided by Savannah Mini Golf Company on both days of the festival, and face painting Saturday, according to a news release from the city.
Saturday kicks off with an 8 a.m. 5K on Bay at New Castle Street and costs $35. Runners can sign up the day of the race at the starting line, or they may pre-register online. Those getting a slower start to the morning can make their way to the park around 11 a.m. Saturday to continue with the final day of festivities. Saturday’s lineup includes music from The Brewer Band, Irritating Julie and Campfire Tyler.
Some of the vendors that diners have to look forward to include Belly Full by Tyger, a soul food and grilled seafood food truck; Krystyna’s Authentic Polish Food; Johnnie Mae’s Chicken & Waffles; and Misfit Chef which serves Japanese soul bowls. Anyone with a hankering for something sweet can get their fix at the Island Fudge Shoppe, Palmetto Kettle Corn, Bruster’s ice cream or Tout Sweet Macarons.
