Spring festivals are back! Taste of Beaufort, Bluffton’s Mayfest return next weekend
No matter what part of Beaufort County you’ll be in next weekend, there’s fun to be had.
The two-day A Taste of Beaufort starts Friday and the 42nd annual Bluffton Mayfest will be Saturday. Admission is free for both events.
What to know before you go:
A Taste of Beaufort
Events run from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park.
There will be live music and sample-size dishes for purchase from almost a dozen Beaufort-area restaurants, including: Tout Sweet Macarons, the Island Fudge Shoppe, Bruster’s Ice Cream, the Lowcountry Cider Company, New Jade, Sea Eagle Market, McKinnon’s Seafood, Wingz & Gullah Tingz, Duke’s Olde House BBQ, and Marker 244.
Whale Branch Early College High School will also be on site serving “kid-friendly food,” according to city news release.
There will be a kids’ zone and arts and craft vendors.
Mark Boughton and Departure -- A Journey Tribute Band are scheduled to play Friday night with Chris Jones, the Parris Island Rock Band, Liz Jane, and Tricky Lick Blues Band performing throughout the day Saturday.
Bluffton’s Mayfest
The event, organized by the Rotary Club of Bluffton, is returning to Old Town Bluffton after a two-year hiatus.
It’s scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with more than 150 art and food vendors, live entertainment, the Ugly Dog Contest, pie eating contest, and Derby Hat Parade.
Multiple performances are scheduled throughout the day between a stage in Martin Family Park and one on Bridge Street, including: Bluffton School of Dance, the Burnt Church Revival band, The Country Project, Jason Laporte, Davey Masteller, and Greezy Joe. Other musicians will also be playing on May River Road.
There will be free shuttles running between Red Cedar Elementary School and Old Town the day of the event.
