Event celebrating Native American culture, traditions returns to Hardeeville this weekend
The Lowcountry Pow Wow and Cultural Festival is returning to Hardeeville for the 21st time this weekend after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.
The event is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Millstone Landing.
The festival will feature Native American traditions, including singing, fire dancing, drumming and storytelling. There will be vendors selling homemade art and demonstrations as well as authentic Cherokee and Creek Indian campsites from the 1800s
Tribal food will be available for purchase and contemporary food trucks will also be onsite.
“This is a unique event that we started more than 20 years ago to educate our community about Native American cultures and traditions that once inhabited our region,” Mike Benton, festival chairman, said in a news release.
Benton said the event is catered to all ages.
Tickets are $5 per day for adults and $3 per day for seniors and students. The event is outdoors with limited seating, so spectators are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
Gates open at 10 a.m. both days, closing at 8 p.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday.
