Want to eat award-winning BBQ and back a good cause? Check out this Port Royal event

Want to eat award-winning BBQ while listening to live music and supporting a charitable cause?

You can do those things while having a beer (if you’re of age, of course) Friday and Saturday in Port Royal.

This year’s Bands, Brews, and BBQ is returning to Paris Avenue, and admission is free.

The event is an official S.C. Barbecue Association-sanctioned event and benefits FRIENDS of Caroline Hospice, a local non-profit Medicare-certified hospice provider.

Friday night is the Wing Throw Down from 6 to 9 p.m. with performances by The Parris Island Marine Corps Dirty Boots Brass Band and The Chiggers.

Saturday is the BBQ tasting day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with performances by Campfire Tyler, The Amanda Brewer Band, Donnie Polk and Irritating Julie.

Tickets will be available for $1 each at the event and can be used to buy samplings of the wings and BBQ. Beer, soda and wine will also be available for purchase.

The event is rain or shine.
