Here’s where you can to see the Weinermobile around Hilton Head and Bluffton this weekend

Don’t be surprised if you see the iconic Oscar Mayer Weinermobile on the roads of the Lowcountry and Coastal Empire this weekend.

The 27-foot-long hot dog-shaped vehicle is in the area for a series of promotional events, culminating in its appearance in this Sunday’s Hilton Head Island St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The Weinermobile in our area is one of six that plys the country’s roads promoting the hot dog brand at parades and festivals, said driver, or “hotdogger” Sammi Manning. The first one was built in 1936. Each Weinermobile has a two person crew and being a driver is a year-long job.

“Parades are our favorite thing to do in the Weinermobile,” Manning said.

On Friday, the Weinermobile made appearances at the Bluffton and Hilton Head Kroger stores. On 1 p.m. on Saturday, it will participate in the 16th Annual Tybee Island Irish Heritage Parade at Tybee Island, Ga.

The Hilton Head parade will kick off at 3 p.m. on Sunday from the Coligny Beach public parking lot. It will proceed down Pope Avenue and Office Park Road to its termination point at Park Plaza.
