Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival keeps rolling on Saturday

Car lovers had a field day on Saturday as the 16th annual Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival continued at The Port Royal Golf Club with the Car Club Showcase, and at the Aero Expo, which was held at the nearby Hilton Head Airport.

The Car Club Showcase featured clubs from throughout the Southeast and beyond — including several local clubs — with each club presenting 10 cars. The clubs were spread out on the 1st and 18th fairways of Planter's Row Golf Course and were split between American and European marques.

The Aero Expo was also open to festival attendees on Saturday. It featured vintage as well as new aircraft on display beside comparable cars.

In addition, there was “Life for 24 Hours,” an exhibit of cars that have run in 24-hour endurance races such as the LeMans and Rolex. There was also a collection of antique watercraft from around the country.

The motoring festival continues on Sunday with the Concours D’Elegance, where the coveted Best of Show and People’s Choice awards will be announced at the end of the day.

Free parking for the event is available at the Hilton Head Island School Complex. Shuttles will run continuously between the school and the festival site.
