Your big weekend in Beaufort County: Festivals, 5Ks and more on tap for Sept. 30-Oct. 2
The first weekend of October is jammed-packed with so many events across Beaufort County, you’re going to wish you could be in two places at once.
There’s an event around Hilton Head, Beaufort and Bluffton this weekend for literally everyone: the foodies, the fit, the festival lovers, the beer enthusiasts, the artsy — even the dogs.
Here’s a guide to help you out.
Festivals
Beaufort Shrimp Festival
When: Friday 6-10 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, Beaufort
Cost: Free Admission, food purchased with tickets
What: The Beaufort Shrimp Festival might be the biggest event in Beaufort County with live entertainment,contests, and of course, lots of shrimp throughout the weekend. 15 local restaurants will cook up their best shrimp dish for a prize. More info here.
45th Annual Gopher Hill Festival
When: 5:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. - 11 p.m. Saturday
Where: Downtown Ridgeland
Cost: Free admission
What: Ridgeland comes to life this weekend for the annual Gopher Hill Festival with live entertainment, kid’s activities, parades, bouncy houses, dancing, vendors, the trackless train and the zip line! More info here.
Hounds on the Harbour
When: Saturday 10 a.m.
Where: Harbour Town, Hilton Head Island
Cost: Free admission
What: The hounds will invade Harbor Town for this dog-friendly event featuring a pup-cake walk, agility course, a dog/owner look-alike contes, and plenty of pet-related vendors. Plus, the Hilton Head Humane Association will have dogs available for adoption. More info here.
Bluffton Oktoberfest - 12th Beer & Brats and Classic Car Show
When: 1- 7 p.m. Saturday
Where: Bluffton Village- in Old Town Bluffton
Cost: $5 entrance free, kids 12 and under free
What: Bluffton's Oktoberfest will feature fun for all with German beer and food provided by local vendors, a classic car show and old-fashioned family fun. The event takes place in Old Town Bluffton. More info here.
Southern Barrel Oktoberfest
When: Noon- 11 p.m. Saturday
Where: Southern Barrel Brewing Company- 375 Buckwalter Place, Bluffton
Cost: Free admission
What: Second Annual Oktoberfest Party will feature Bavarian food specials, kids crafts and activities, cornhole, a best-dressed contest with prizes and of course, plenty of beer! More info here.
Burgers and Brews Festival
When: 11 a.m - 5 p.m. Oct. 1
Where: Shelter Cove Community Park, Hilton Head Island
Cost: $6 admission
What: Dozens of vendors will fill up Shelter Cove Community Park for a day of slider and beer tastings. All proceeds benefit the Island Rec Center. More info here.
5Ks and walks
Run Forrest Run 5K run/ walk and popcorn shrimp run: 8 a.m., downtown Beaufort
Gopher Hill 5k Run and Walk: 8 a.m, Main Street, Beaufort
Step Forward to Cure TSC - South Carolina: 10 a.m., Jarvis Creek Park, Hilton Head. Event to raise money for a cure for tuberous sclerosis complex
Art Events:
Paint it Pink Party
Where: Wine & Design -1536 Fording Island Rd, Ste 103, Hilton Head
When: 4-7 p.m.
Cost: Free
What: Hilton Head Regional Hospital hosts this event in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Dr. Shelly Ringer will lead a discussion on the latest trends in breast cancer prevention and treatments including 3D mammography while painting the night away. More info here.
Got Art?
When: 4- 7 p.m. Saturday
Where: Art League Gallery of Hilton Head -14 Shelter Cove Lane, Hilton Head
Cost: $100 a ticket, 2 admitted with a ticket
