Expect summertime showers and a record-breaking travel weekend for Fourth of July

Vacationers might want to pack an umbrella if they plan on visiting Hilton Head Island and greater Beaufort County this Fourth of July weekend.

National Weather Service meteorologist Emily Timte said Tuesday the Lowcountry could expect “typical summertime showers” for the holiday.

  • On Thursday, there’s a 40-50 percent chance of rain.
  • Friday: 30-40 percent.
  • Saturday: 20-30 percent.
  • Sunday: 30 percent.
  • Monday: 40 percent.

According to Timte, high temperatures for the weekend will stay around the low 90s, but beach goers could probably expect a cooler day on the coast.
