MONDAY
Hilton Head Island's MLK Jr. Memorial Celebration: 10 a.m. march at Hilton Head Island High School, 71 Wilborn Road. A ceremony will be held at the school's Seahawk Cultural Center after the march and a free lunch will be held in the cafeteria from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The Beaufort County Ministerial Alliance will host a parade honoring Martin Luther King Jr. at 10 a.m. in Beaufort. The parade will follow the city's traditional parade route, beginning at Rodgers and Boundary streets. The celebration will conclude at 11:30 a.m. at USCB’s performing arts
center with W. Brown Marshel being the keynote speaker.
Bluffton's 31st Martin Luther King Jr. celebration: a 12:30 p.m. memorial service at Bluffton Town Hall at 20 Bridge Street, which will feature a youth program of singing, dancing, poetry and a slideshow. A memorial walk will follow the service and a 3 p.m. cookout at Oyster Factory Park.
At 7 p.m., Hilton Head's All Saints Episcopal Church will show the documentary "Carry It On -- A Musical Legacy" in the parish hall at 1003 Meeting Street. The documentary is about folk group Peter, Paul & Mary, who performed "If I Had a Hammer" and Bob Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind" at the 1963 March on Washington.
A community food drive to benefit the Sandalwood Food Pantry will continue through Monday. Non-perishable food items will be collected at all scheduled events on Hilton Head Island, according to All Saints Episcopal Church.
