Government offices closed Friday for New Year's Day

Local, state and federal government offices will be closed Friday for New Year's Day.

Beaufort County libraries and trash and recycling centers will also be closed Friday. Libraries will close at 5 p.m. Thursday, and the trash centers will close at 3 p.m. ahead of the holiday.

The town of Bluffton's offices will also close early on Thursday, at noon, ahead of the holiday.

The U.S. Postal Service and financial markets will be closed New Year's Day, as well.

Beaufort County public schools remain closed for the holidays, with students returning Jan. 6. Teachers return to work Jan. 4.
