Local groups to give the gift of a hot holiday meal
The holidays are the season of giving, and there are organizations all around Beaufort County preparing to give folks the gift of a hot meal.
With so many restaurants, soup kitchens and food pantries closed on Thursday and Friday, the following locations are among the places where those in need can get a meal and a helping of holiday cheer.
CHRISTMAS EVE, Thursday, Dec. 24
BLUFFTON
Where: Rotary Community Center at Oscar Frazier Park, 11 Recreation Ct.
When: 4 p.m.
Details: A free hot turkey meal will be served. Fixings include gravy, cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese, potatoes, stuffing, rolls and desserts. The meal is first come, first served and there will be enough food for about 200 people.

CHRISTMAS, Friday, Dec 25.
BEAUFORT
Where: Atlantic Inn, 2249 Boundary St.
When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Details: Plant the Seed Ministry is hosting a free Christmas meal of ham and turkey. Desserts and traditional sides like sweet potatoes and macaroni and cheese will also be served.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND
Where: First Presbyterian Church, 540 William Hilton Pkwy.
When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Details: At the church's 13th annual community Christmas dinner, diners will be treated to a free turkey buffet. While reservations are not required, it helps event organizers to know how many people to expect.

BLUFFTON
Where: Campbell Chapel AME Church
When: 4:30 p.m.
Details: In addition to the church's annual delivery of Christmas meals, the church will be handing out holiday food to go Friday at its Boundary Street location.
