Bluffton Self Help keeps power on, helps woman get energy audit
Lydia, a senior citizen living on a fixed income in an older mobile home that was poorly insulated, was having trouble meeting her monthly electric bills.
She owed nearly $700 after falling two months behind, and the electric company had threatened to disconnect her service. Lydia also suffers from lung disease and requires occasional breathing treatments.
Her church referred her to Bluffton Self Help, which was able to help maintain her utility service and encouraged her to schedule an energy audit to help her lessen her monthly bills during summer.
Bluffton Self Help provides a broad range of social services for poor working families, the disabled, sick and elderly.
